The books/stories offered on this web site can
readily be labeled as 'clean', they contain no obscene language or intimate sex
scenes!
They were written for family consumption and being historically-based, the
characters involved are written about as the human condition was known at the
time! Violence, both from humans and varmints, accidents and illness often
occurred without warning! You as a reader are invited to learn of the history of
the upper Susquehanna Valley while enjoying fine stories about the kinds of
people it took to pioneer this unique part of New York State. The stories' main thread
weave a narrative from the headwaters of Otsego (Glimmerglass) Lake down to the
Pennsylvania border, including Oaks Creek, Cherry Valley Creek, Schenevus Creek,
Charlotte Creek, Otego Creek, Otsdawa Creek, Oleout Creek, Unadilla River, Oquaga
Creek, and Chenango River valleys. These watersheds nourished and encouraged
pioneers, largely, from the New England states to clear the land and build
farms, mills and ultimately communities. While centered on the Oneonta area the
tales acquaint the reader with the history of a broad stretch of central New
York.
