The Boyle Chronicles: Book Two: James & Judith

Paperback by Ronald 'Ron' Baldwin

Second in the series that chronicles the settling of New York's frontier along the upper Susquehanna valley. This, the second in a series of three historical fiction stories is so well researched that it could be called non-fiction, except that the characters are figments of the author's imagination. Weaving documented occurrences into a fictional narration takes precise timing and the author, Ronald 'Ron' Baldwin has done a superb job. The fact that he grew up where the story takes place helped him paint a mental picture that natives of the area say is very authentic.

Excerpts:

The subsequent bursts have everyone focused on the mountain side. As the final seconds count down the rockets start rising into the star studded sky. Before the last one swooshes off the first one booms and fills the night with bright colors. In a continuous beat, the rockets keep swooshing skyward and booms echo while red, white and blue rains above the valley. Occurring too fast to count them, one fizzles on its skyward journey and falls short of the river. It lands where the logging has recently been done and explodes in an unseen burst of color. Here and there a leaf burns.
